The Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN was established in 1967 in Bangkok. Today there are eleven members. The population of the region is about 500 million people. Membership includes Thailand， Cambodia， Laos， Vietnam， Brunei Darussalam， Indonesia， Malaysia， Myanmar， Philippines and Singapore. ASEAN‘s goals are to enhance economic growth， social progress and cultural development throughout the region. In addition ASEAN aims to promote regional peace and stability through relationship building. ASEAN makes reference to the United Nations Charter as their guiding principles.東南亞國家聯(lián)盟（東盟）是1967年在曼谷建立的。致今它已擁有11個成員。這個地區(qū)的有近五十億人口。成員國包括泰國、柬埔寨、老撾、越南、文萊、印尼、馬來西亞、緬甸、菲律賓和新加坡。東盟的目標是促進區(qū)域間的經(jīng)濟增長，社會進程和文化發(fā)展。另外，東盟還致力與通過建立廣泛關(guān)系來推動地區(qū)的和平和穩(wěn)定。東盟借鑒聯(lián)合國憲章制定他們的指導原則。
