14. prove vt. 證明，證實
How did you prove that he was the thief?
The finger prints on the knife can prove him the murdurer.
[注意] prove 還常用作系動詞，意為“證明是，結(jié)果
是”。

1. reeognise vt. 識別，認出;承認，認可
reeognisable adj. 可認出的;可識別的
recognition n. 認識，認出;承認
I recognized her by her red hat.
我根據(jù)她的紅色帽子認出了她。
He recognized his lack of qulifacation for the post.
他承認了自已不夠條件承擔那個職務。
I recognise him to be cleverer than I am.
= I recxgnise that he is cleverer than I am.
我承認他比我更聰明。

children.
見到鄰居們這樣對待孩子，我吃了一驚。

15. tear (tore，torn)vt. & vi. 撕碎
He tore the letter into pieces.
