漢語可說“希望某人做某事”，但英語習(xí)慣上不能說hope sb to do sth，要表示類似意思，通常后接that從句。如：
■史密斯先生希望他所有的學(xué)生都能考上大學(xué)。
誤：Mr Smith hopes all of his students to pass the college entrance examinations.
正：Mr Smith hopes that all of his students can pass thecollege entrance examinations.
另外，有時用hope for sb to do sth 這樣的形式，即hope for后接不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)。如：
I hope for him to arrive in time. 我希望他及時趕到。
注意：英語雖然不能說hope sb to do sth，但是可說wish sb to do sth。如：
I wish him to remain. 我希望他留下。
I wish you to be happy. 我祝你幸福。
