在一般情況下，賓語從句中的that只起引導(dǎo)作用，在句中不做任何成分，沒有實(shí)際意義，通�？梢詫⑵涫÷�。例如，
I think (that)he’ll be all right in a few days.
Current trends indicate (that)transportation is becoming cleaner,faster and safer.
但是，that在引導(dǎo)賓語從句時并非在任何情況下都可以省略。在以下情況中，that不能省略。
(1)and 連接兩個或兩個以上的賓語從句時，第一個that可以省略也可以不省，但其它不能省略，以免產(chǎn)生誤會：
Galileo’s observations show (that) Copernicus, another great astronomer, was right and that the earth moves aroun
d the sun, not the other way around.
(2) that引導(dǎo)的賓語從句放在except ,but 等介詞后面的時候,that不能省略.
He is a good student except that he is a little careless.
(3) that 引導(dǎo)的賓語從句放在句首起強(qiáng)調(diào)作用的時候,that不能省略.
