1)act as (臨時(shí))擔(dān)任，充當(dāng)，起……的作用

2)act for 代理(某人職務(wù))，代為(處理某事

Alcohol acts on the nervous system.

5) in the act (of) 當(dāng)場(chǎng)，正在動(dòng)作時(shí)
He was caught in the act (of reading my private letters).
