　　一、部分否定

　　(一)英語(yǔ)中的所謂部分否定，是指代詞或者副詞如all, both, every, everybody, everyday, everyone, many, everything, entirely, altogether, absolutely, wholly, completely, everywhere, always, often等與否定詞not搭配使用。部分否定的翻譯比較簡(jiǎn)單，常常翻譯為“并非所有，并不是都。如：all…not(不全是，不都是)，both…not(并非兩個(gè)都，不是兩者都)，every…not(不是每個(gè)都)，not always(不總是，不一定)，not often(不經(jīng)常)，not altogether(不全是)，not necessarily(未必)等。

　　All that glitters is not gold.

　　并非所有發(fā)光的都是金子。

　　Both the windows are not open.

　　兩扇窗戶并不都是開著的。

　　Everybody does not believe the rumor.

　　并不是每個(gè)人都聽信這個(gè)謠言的。

　　They are not always in the office on Sundays.

　　他們不一定每個(gè)星期天都在辦公室。

　　The responsibility is not altogether mine.

　　責(zé)任并不全在于我身上。

　　The situation is not necessarily so.

　　情況并非如此。

　　(二)需要注意的是，“all…not”和“every…not”等結(jié)構(gòu)屬于傳統(tǒng)用法�，F(xiàn)代英語(yǔ)中，也會(huì)把否定詞放在整個(gè)句子的最前面，而采用“Not all…”和“Not every…”這種表達(dá)形式。這種用法在語(yǔ)法和邏輯上也能講得通。

　　Not all metals are good conductors.

　　并非所有的金屬都是良導(dǎo)體。

　　Not everyone accepts his proposal.

　　并不是所有的人都接受他的建議。

　　二、全部否定

　　在英語(yǔ)中，構(gòu)成全部否定的單詞和詞組主要有以下這些：never(決不，從來不)，no(沒有，不)，not(不，不是)，none(沒人，誰(shuí)都不，沒有任何東西)，nobody(沒人)，nothing(什么也沒有，沒有任何事情)，nowhere(沒有什么地方)，neither(兩者都不)，nor(也沒有，也不)，not at all (一點(diǎn)也不)。

　　He is no professor.

　　他根本不是教授。

　　None of my friends smoke.

　　我的朋友都不抽煙。

　　Our great motherland has never before been so prosperous as it is today.

　　我們偉大的祖國(guó)從來沒有像今天這樣繁榮昌盛。

　　Nothing in the world is difficult for the one who sets his mind to it.

　　世上無難事，只怕有心人。

　　Never have we been daunted by difficulties.

　　我們?nèi)魏螘r(shí)候都沒有被困難嚇倒過。
