6.no more …than 與not… any more than

　　no more …than 與not… any more than同義，不可簡單地看成是more …than的否定形式。具體地說，這一結構可能是帶有一定的感情色彩的否定形式，也可能是一種較特殊的類比形式。其翻譯方法有二；表示同類否定比較時，可譯為不比…更或都…同樣不；表示比喻關系時，可譯為正如…不，…也不.

　　「例文」The food on the ship was no better than on any other ship on which Billy had sailed.

　　「譯文」這條船上(供應的)食品并不如比利工作過的其他船上的(食品)好。(括號里的詞是可以省略的。)

　　「分析」這是一個主從復合句、主句是The food …no better , than on any other ship 是省略了比較對象的比較狀語從句，從句on which引導的定語從句修飾先行詞ship.本句中no more… than用于同類否定的比較，可譯為不如….

　　7.not so much as與其說…不如說…

　　「例文」Science moves forward, they say, not so much through the insights of great men of genius as because of more ordinary things like improved techniques and tools.

　　「譯文」新學派科學家說，科學的發(fā)展與其說源于天才偉人的真知灼見，不如說源于改進了的技術和工具等等更為普遍的東西。

　　「分析」這是一個主從復合句。插入語they say是主句，Science moves forward,……and tools是賓語從句。not so much……as連接的是狀語，as引導的狀語從句中，由于上下文清楚，主謂語都省略了，即as(sciencemoves forward.)because of……not so much……as也可譯為與其說……不如說……，它所表達的邏輯關系和more than有相似之處，也是在比較的基礎上進行判斷和選擇，被比較的事物也同屬一個范疇。所不同的是，more……than表示前重后輕的邏輯關系，而not so much… as和less than表示前輕后重的邏輯關系，這兩個結構中信息重心落在句尾，因此不必倒過來譯，只須按原文的詞序順譯即可。

　　「譯文」你又犯了同上次一樣的錯誤。

　　9.no less than(no less… than) 不但…而且；不亞于；簡直是，實在是

　　「例文」China insists always on the need for self�瞨eliance, no less in economic policie than in making revolution.

　　「譯文」中國始終堅持獨立自主，不但在進行革命方面，而且在經濟政策方面都是如此。

　　「分析」這是一個簡單句，no less… than連接兩個介詞短語做狀語。no less… than連接兩個并列的成分，信息重心在前，因此漢譯時要倒過來譯。

　　10.none other than不是…正是；除了…外，不會是…

　　「例文」Reaction other than the desired one often occur when reactants are brought together.

　　「譯文」當這些反應物放在一起時，常發(fā)生不希望有的一些反應(即：…常發(fā)生與希望有的反應不同的反應)。

　　「分析」other than為固定結構，其義有二：一是與…不同，而不是；二是除了之意�？刹迦朊�詞，本句中做與…不同解。
