在感恩祈禱進(jìn)行完之后，大家開(kāi)始吃感恩節(jié)大餐。晚餐后，有人敲門(mén)。Ellen告訴Robbie，因?yàn)樗?qǐng)Alexandra來(lái)吃甜點(diǎn)了，所以來(lái)的人很可能是Alexandra.這讓Robbie很是高興。

Richard： You go first， Marilyn. Marilyn： I'm thinking. You go first. Richard： Well， you all know I'm working on my photo album. It's not finished yet. And I'd like to thank Marilyn for being so patient. Marilyn： Thanks， Richard. I should thank you for encouraging me to keep working on my fashion designs. I'm lucky to have a husband with an artistic eye. Ellen： Oh， we have a lot to be thankful for. For the food on this table. Just like the Pilgrims. Philip： I'll go along with that， Ellen. Ellen： Well， help me serve， Robbie. [Later， after dinner.] Harry： It was a wonderful meal， Mrs. Stewart. Thank you. Richard： And now to see the end of the football game. Philip： Exactly. Ellen： Where are you going， Philip？

Philip： Remember， the Michigan football game？ And Michigan needs a touchdown. Ellen： Did you forget something？

Robbie： Dad， your famous apple pie. Philip： Just let me see the score， Ellen. Marilyn： Go ahead， Philip. We should all take a little break before dessert.

Ellen： Oh， who could that be？ Oh， it must be Alexandra. I invited her to come by for dessert. Robbie： You did？

Grandpa： I like Ellen.

「語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)精講」

1. And I'd like to thank Marilyn for being so patient. …… I should thank you for encouraging me to keep working on my fashion designs. I'm lucky to have a husband with an artistic eye.我想感謝Marilyn對(duì)我的極大耐心。…… 我應(yīng)當(dāng)謝謝你，因?yàn)槟愎膭?lì)我繼續(xù)從事時(shí)裝設(shè)計(jì)。我有個(gè)具有藝術(shù)眼光的丈夫，真是幸運(yùn)。

這里Richard和Marilyn夫婦二人都用了"thank someone for （doing） something"來(lái)表達(dá)對(duì)自己的伴侶的感謝。這個(gè)短語(yǔ)所感謝的是人，而引起感謝的事或物要放在for后面。

to keep working on：繼續(xù)從事，繼續(xù)努力。

with an artistic eye：具有藝術(shù)眼光。

2. I'll go along with that， Ellen. Ellen，我同意你的說(shuō)法。

go alone with：在這里表示“贊同，同意”的意思。

3. And Michigan needs a touchdown.而且密歇根大學(xué)隊(duì)需要一次越底線得分。

touchdown：攻到底線得分。在（美式）橄欖球比賽中，持球越過(guò)對(duì)方底線，得六分。

4. We should all take a little break before dessert.我們都應(yīng)該稍微休息一下再吃甜食。

take a little break：稍微休息一下。
