7. get through vt.
(1) 做完;讀完;寫完;吃完
How long does it take you to get through a letter?
你寫一封信要花多少時(shí)間?
(2) 通過(考試、議案等)
He got through the driving license test last week.
上周他通過了駕駛執(zhí)照考試。
(3) 穿越;穿過
The alley aheadis narrow, so atruck can't get through
it.
前面的巷子很窄，所以卡車沒辦法通過。
(4) 給……接通電話
A little patience, and I'll get you through.
耐心一點(diǎn)，我就給你接通電話。
[拓展] get through 也可用作不及物動(dòng)詞，意為“(電
話)接通”。
I called all day yesterday, but I couldn't get through
(to you).
昨天我打了一天電話，但是都沒辦法聯(lián)絡(luò)到你。
【考點(diǎn)2】含give的短語

[例句] He gave up his seat to an old woman. 他把座位
讓給一個(gè)老太太。
The authorities showed no signs of giving in to the
kidnapper's demands. 當(dāng)局對綁架者的要求沒有絲毫讓
步的跡象。
Marx's ideas gave birth to communism. 馬克思的思想
孕育了共產(chǎn)主義。
【考例2】

[考查目標(biāo)]此題主要考查give短語的用法。
[答案與解析]A give up 放棄，戒掉;give in 屈服，讓
步;give out 分發(fā);give away 贈(zèng)送，給予。本段對話討
論的是有關(guān)戒煙的事，最后一句話意思是“但我只是戒
不掉”。
【考點(diǎn)4】含hold的短語
�、� hold on 等一等，不掛斷
�、� hold on to 抓住……不放
�、� hold a sport meeting 舉行運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)
�、� hold up 舉起，拿起，延誤，耽擱
⑤ hold back 阻止，抑制
�、� hold down 壓制，壓低
⑦ hold off 拖延
�、� hold out 伸出，擺出，支持

[例句] Hold on, everything will be all right. 堅(jiān)持下去，
一切都會(huì)好的。
Construction of new plants has been held up. 新工廠的
建設(shè)擱淺了。
