　　suggest 是個(gè)及物動(dòng)詞，后面可以跟名詞、代詞、動(dòng)名詞或從句作它的賓語(yǔ)。各種試題對(duì) suggest 的考查通常涉及到它的非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞形式、賓語(yǔ)從句及賓語(yǔ)從句的虛擬語(yǔ)氣等方面。
　　考點(diǎn)一、 suggest 作“間接表明；建議；使想起”解時(shí)，后面可以跟名詞、代詞或動(dòng)名詞做賓語(yǔ)
　�、� suggest sth.表明，建議
　　That girl's sun-tanned face suggests excellent health.
　　那個(gè)姑娘被太陽(yáng)曬黑了的臉表明她身體非常健康。
　　Mr. Smith suggested a way out of the difficulty to her.
　　史密斯先生向她提出了一個(gè)克服困難的辦法。
　　② suggest doing sth
　　Tom suggested selling the house but Ann was against it.湯姆建議把房子賣了，但安不同意。
　　錯(cuò)點(diǎn)一　誤用不定式作賓語(yǔ)
　　要表示漢語(yǔ)的“建議做某事”，英語(yǔ)通常用 suggest doing sth，而不能用 suggest to do sth.如：
　　他建議坐飛機(jī)去，可我認(rèn)為這樣花費(fèi)太大。
　　正：He suggested going by plane, but I thought it would cost too much.
　　誤：He suggested to go by plane, but I thought it would cost too much.   
　�、� suggest sb’s doing sth
　　I have written him a letter and suggested his sending it to the Ministry of Culture.
　　我給他寫(xiě)了一封信，并建議他把它寄給文化部。
　�、� suggest sth to sb（錯(cuò)誤：suggest sb to do或suggest sb sth）
　　考點(diǎn)二、 suggest后面的賓語(yǔ)從句要不要用虛擬語(yǔ)氣，由它的意思決定： 作“建議”解，賓語(yǔ)從句中的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用虛擬語(yǔ)氣，即謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用“（ should ）動(dòng)詞原形”。
　�、� Almost all his friends suggested that he visit Mr. Johnson at once.
　�、� ----The experiment has failed！
　　----I suggest you try again.
　　句式一、 It's suggested that…… （有人建議……）例如：
　　① It's suggested that we （ should ） put on a short play at the party.
　　有人建議我們?cè)谕頃?huì)上演一個(gè)短劇。
　�、� It has been suggested that Robert should go to Chicago and try to find a job there. 有人建議羅伯特到芝加哥去，設(shè)法在那里找個(gè)工作。
　　句式二、 What （ All that ） sb. suggests is that…… （某人建議的是……）
　�、� What I suggest is that we visit a class right away.
　　我的建議是我們馬上去聽(tīng)課。
　�、� What she suggested was that the clinic should make better use of those herbs. 她建議醫(yī)療站更好地利用那些草藥。
　　suggest 作“表明、說(shuō)明、暗示、指出”解，后面的that 賓語(yǔ)從句的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用陳述語(yǔ)氣。
　�、� He often came to the theater， but his attitude suggested he was not really interested in the play.
　　② Jane's pale face suggested that she was ill， and her parents suggested that she have a medical examination.
　　第一個(gè) suggested 作“表明、說(shuō)明”解，所以其后的賓語(yǔ)從句的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用陳述語(yǔ)氣；第二個(gè) suggested 的意思是“建議”，所以其后的賓語(yǔ)從句的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用虛擬語(yǔ)氣，其中的 should 被省略了。
　　考點(diǎn)三、名詞 suggestion 的用法與其詞根動(dòng)詞用法相似。
　　按英語(yǔ)習(xí)慣，suggest的派生名詞suggestion也具有與其詞根動(dòng)詞相似的用法，suggestion 作“建議”解，后面跟同位語(yǔ)從句時(shí)，以及 suggestion 用作主語(yǔ)，后面跟表語(yǔ)從句時(shí)，從句中的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞均用虛擬語(yǔ)氣。
　�、� My suggestion is that the work should be started at once.我的建議是立即動(dòng)工。
　�、� The monitor's suggestion that she should come another day has not been accepted. 班長(zhǎng)提出的她改天來(lái)的建議還是沒(méi)有被接受。
