1、北京君誠(chéng)學(xué)校學(xué)子在州魚繪畫比賽中獲獎(jiǎng)
2019 State-Fish Art Contest Winners
1997年3月, 來(lái)自明尼蘇達(dá)州的五年級(jí)的凱特·迪利奧和她父親薩爾在研究一個(gè)有關(guān)明尼蘇達(dá)州州魚的項(xiàng)目時(shí),發(fā)現(xiàn)了美國(guó)各個(gè)州的各種魚類信息。于是,他們靈機(jī)一動(dòng),決定舉辦一個(gè)活動(dòng),希望可以讓孩子們、教師和家長(zhǎng)了解美國(guó)各州的魚類知識(shí)并且重視對(duì)于水產(chǎn)資源的保護(hù)。
The Wildlife Forever STATE-FISH ART Contest was inspired by a bright fifth-grader from Minnesota named Kate Di Leo and her father Sal in March of 1997.While doing a research project on Minnesota’s State-Fish, they discovered that very little information existed on all the different State-Fish in the U.S. They decided an event should be created that educated kids, teachers, and parents on aquatics resources, conservation, and each state’s State-Fish.
君誠(chéng)學(xué)子在此次州魚比賽中取得了非常優(yōu)異的成績(jī),其中Lee Dongyun (Andy), G1,獲得了一等獎(jiǎng),Chen Yujia ,G3獲得了二等獎(jiǎng),Shi, Ruihan (Stephanie), G1 獲得了三等獎(jiǎng)。
In this competition, students from SIBS achieved excellent results. Lee Dongyun (Andy) from Grade 1 won the first prize; ChenYujia from Grade 3 got the second prize, and Shi Ruihan from Grade 1 won the third prize.
2、家長(zhǎng)研討會(huì)
Workshop for Parents
還有兩周時(shí)間本學(xué)期就要結(jié)束了,很高興地見證了君誠(chéng)學(xué)子的健康成長(zhǎng)和取得的優(yōu)異成績(jī)。很多家長(zhǎng)都在考慮如何利用好暑假來(lái)為新學(xué)期做準(zhǔn)備,為此,君誠(chéng)學(xué)校舉行了學(xué)期末的家長(zhǎng)研討會(huì),邀請(qǐng)家長(zhǎng)一起對(duì)本學(xué)年進(jìn)行回顧,并探討如何攜手幫孩子們?yōu)樾聦W(xué)期做準(zhǔn)備,共同迎接新的飛躍。我們還向家長(zhǎng)們介紹了如何在暑假期間使用BrainPOP來(lái)提高學(xué)生的英語(yǔ)水平。
There are now only two weeks before the end of this semester. We are glad to see the growth of our students and the achievements they have made. We realized that parents are thinking about how to arrange the summer vacation in order to get well prepared for the next semester,thus, we decided to hold a parent workshop to invite parents to review the progress of SIBS this year and have a discussion about what we can do to help children to be ready for the coming semester. We will also introduce to the parents about how to use Brain POP to improve our students’ English skills during the summer vacation.
3、君誠(chéng)小學(xué)4-5年級(jí)中文課程示例
An example for a Grade 4/5 Chinese Curriculum at SIBS
君誠(chéng)的中文課程旨在培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的“社會(huì)洞察力、審美和文化素養(yǎng)和有效的交流溝通技能,以支持他們未來(lái)的學(xué)術(shù)研究”,其中“社會(huì)洞察力、審美和文化素養(yǎng)”指向的是人文性,“有效的交流溝通技能”指向的是工具性。為了達(dá)到這個(gè)目標(biāo),君誠(chéng)小學(xué)課程的設(shè)置會(huì)更寬泛一些,也就是說(shuō),我們中文課的學(xué)習(xí),不把時(shí)間花在刷題上。我們的教學(xué)重點(diǎn)在于培養(yǎng)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)中文的興趣,提高學(xué)生的審美和文化素養(yǎng)(人文性),訓(xùn)練學(xué)生自己學(xué)習(xí)的能力,以及在生活中運(yùn)用語(yǔ)文知識(shí)解決問題的能力(工具性)。
Chinese courses at SIBS are designed to develop students'“ social insight, aesthetic and cultural literacy and effective communication skills to support their future academic research"."Social insight, aesthetic and cultural literacy" refers to humanity and "effective communication skills" means instrumentality.
為了達(dá)到這個(gè)目標(biāo),君誠(chéng)小學(xué)課程的設(shè)置會(huì)更寬泛一些,也就是說(shuō),我們中文課的學(xué)習(xí),不把時(shí)間花在刷題上。我們的教學(xué)重點(diǎn)在于培養(yǎng)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)中文的興趣,提高學(xué)生的審美和文化素養(yǎng)(人文性),訓(xùn)練學(xué)生自己學(xué)習(xí)的能力,以及在生活中運(yùn)用語(yǔ)文知識(shí)解決問題的能力(工具性)。
In order to achieve the goal, SIBS ES curriculum will cover a wider range of knowledge. To be more specific, students do not have to spend too much time on doing various exercises when studying Chinese.The point is to develop their interest in learning Chinese, improving students'aesthetic and cultural literacy (humanity), training students' ability to learn on their own, and using language to solve problems in daily lives (instrumentality).
4、君誠(chéng)幼兒園本周活動(dòng)
SIBS Kindergarten Week Event
君誠(chéng)幼兒園本周舉辦了小朋友的生日會(huì),我們一起制作了瓶子吹氣球的實(shí)驗(yàn)。將小蘇打放入瓶中,在氣球里放入檸檬酸,氣球豎起放在瓶口處,讓檸檬酸落入瓶中,瓶子里面和氣球會(huì)發(fā)生什么變化呢?
SIBS Kindergarten held a child's birthday party this week. We made an experiment of a bottle blowing balloon. The baking soda was put in the bottle, then the citric acid in the balloon. Put the balloon up and the citric acid fell into the bottle. Guess what happened to the bottle and the balloon?
幼兒對(duì)水的喜愛是一種天性。因此,“瘋狂玩水日”成了君誠(chéng)幼兒園一年一度的標(biāo)志性活動(dòng)。簡(jiǎn)單而又輕松的玩水活動(dòng),拉近了師生之間的感情,增進(jìn)了同伴之間的友誼,更讓孩子感受到了集體氛圍的快樂和溫暖。
It is their human nature to love playing the water. Therefore, "Crazy Water Day" has become the annual landmark activity for SIBS Kindergarten. A simple and relaxed activity makes the relationship between students and teachers closer and enhances the friendship between peers. The most important is that children could feel warm and happy in the environment.
5、BrainPop 與美式課程教學(xué)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的結(jié)合

在上期周報(bào)中,我們介紹了從今年夏天起,君誠(chéng)學(xué)校啟動(dòng)使用的課程同步軟件BrainPop APP。該APP除了具有豐富的互動(dòng)教育內(nèi)容,還在拓展了與美式課程標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的融合,這對(duì)于君誠(chéng)學(xué)校開展課內(nèi)外的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)融合將起到較大的作用。
In our previous weekly report, we introduced the BrainPop APP, a piece of course synchronization software that SIBS has been using since this summer. In addition to the rich interactive educational content, the APP is closely integrated with American curriculum standards. As such, it will help embed these standards both inside and outside the classrooms at SIBS.
在BrainPop Educators(智力泡泡教育者)網(wǎng)站上,老師們可以一鍵搜索所有內(nèi)涵在APP里與某個(gè)課標(biāo)相吻合的教育內(nèi)容。
Teachers will use the BrainPOP Educators section to search for a variety of relevant, subject-specific content. The resources can then be accessed by students and parents at the click of a button.

充分利用這一功能結(jié)合我校學(xué)生本學(xué)年所參加的MAP大數(shù)據(jù)個(gè)性化綜合評(píng)測(cè)結(jié)果,老師們可以設(shè)計(jì)出針對(duì)某個(gè)薄弱環(huán)節(jié)的針對(duì)性練習(xí)和學(xué)習(xí)內(nèi)容。
Teachers will combine their personalized, comprehensive assessment of each student with the MAP test data that has been gathered throughout the school year, so as to design targeted exercises and learning content. This will help ensure that the Brainpop activities selected for your child addresses their weak spots and specific areas for improvement.
為什么暑假中同學(xué)們須積極通過(guò)BrainPop來(lái)練習(xí)和學(xué)習(xí)?
You may well ask, "why should students actively practice and study through BrainPop during the summer vacation?".
經(jīng)驗(yàn)和研究表明,國(guó)際學(xué)校的學(xué)生在暑假中脫離了校內(nèi)的英語(yǔ)環(huán)境,英語(yǔ)學(xué)科能力在經(jīng)歷一個(gè)暑假后會(huì)退步,其退步程度為1-5個(gè)月不等。因此在沒有干預(yù)的情況下,這對(duì)于學(xué)生們按部就班達(dá)到英語(yǔ)母語(yǔ)水平非常不利,對(duì)于學(xué)生們?cè)诟咧须A段開始高強(qiáng)度地學(xué)習(xí)IB和AP課程更為不利。為此,我校推進(jìn)暑期利用Brainpop等同步軟件進(jìn)行自學(xué)和完成暑期作業(yè),并將在2019-20學(xué)期的9/10月份檢驗(yàn)學(xué)生們的暑期學(xué)習(xí)結(jié)果。
Experience and research show that most students in international schools are separated from the English language environment offered by their school during the holiday season. As a result, students' English subject ability will gradually decline over the summer, with a regression degree of between 1-5 months. Without intervention, this is potentially very detrimental to the students' English language proficiency. The negative effect may be particularly felt by students starting to take IB and AP courses in high school. These students will be studying high-intensity courses and will need to "hit the ground running". They will have little time to readjust to English once the holidays finish.
To this end, our school promotes the use of Brainpop and other synchronization software for self-study and summer homework. We will test the students' summer study results in September/October 2019-20.
6、君誠(chéng)中學(xué)部藝術(shù)設(shè)計(jì)項(xiàng)目開班
SIBS Art School Preparatory Program
ASPP藝術(shù)設(shè)計(jì)項(xiàng)目與君誠(chéng)學(xué)校(簡(jiǎn)稱SIBS)中學(xué)部學(xué)習(xí)相同的課程,在此基礎(chǔ)上疊加藝術(shù)設(shè)計(jì)專項(xiàng)課程,幫助學(xué)生完成作品集,以申請(qǐng)到世界一流大學(xué)及學(xué)院的藝術(shù)設(shè)計(jì)專業(yè)。
The ASPP is based on the same curriculum as MS/HS of SIBS. On this basis, the special art design course is superimposed to help students complete the collection to apply for arts and design major at world-class universities and colleges.
